Krakowiak
The Krakowiak is one of Poland’s national dances and is also the dance of Krakow, Poland’s ancient capital city. The dance evokes the movements of the horses of the Polish cavalry, which defended the kingdom against raiding barbarian tribes from the east. The dance became popular in Paris and Vienna in the 19th century, helping influence the later gallop dance craze of the late 19th century.
