About Us

Carpathia is Washington’s folk dance group that specializes in the dances of Central and Eastern Europe. We launched in Spring 2011 with dances from Romania, Ukraine, and the Roma (Gypsies). We have since added dances from Poland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Russia, Bulgaria, and Macedonia, with plans to expand to other neighboring countries of the region in the coming years.

Carpathia Featured on Voice of America

Last Spring, we had the great privilege of dancing for some of our family back home when Voice of America Ukraine did this piece on our group.

Beloved Folk Dance from 9 Countries

Carpathia celebrates all the diversity of Eastern Europe with dances from Ukraine, Romania, Germany, Poland, Macedonia, Russia, Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary and the Roma Gypsy traditions.

We dance to seduce ourselves. To fall in love with ourselves. When we dance with another, we manifest the very thing we love about ourselves so that they may see it and love us too.”

THE TEAM

Our Carpathia Team

The Carpathia Folk Dance Ensemble is comprised entirely of volunteers. We dance because we love these cultures, we love these stages, and we love the people.

If you fit that bill, contact us and we would love to have you! No dance experience necessary! We’ll teach you all of the steps. We are always recruiting new and enthusiastic dancers.

Thank You For Visiting!

We hope to see you soon, until then keep dancing, keep loving, and be well.
